It is the mission of the Human Resources Department to provide personnel resources and continuously seek to improve upon the systems that support County employees and administrators with the essential functions necessary to fulfill their employment-related needs and objectives.

 

Services Provided

  • Administers employment-related directives from the County Board of Commissioners

     Correctional Officers - Prison (Per Diem)

     Telecommunicators - Department of Emergency Services

      Clerk Typist - Accepting applications for all clerical positions

Candidates work independently performing a variety of advanced and general clerical tasks, which requires independent judgement and actions. Responsibility for the overall clerical functions of the office. High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Prior clerical experience is preferred. 

     
     Department Clerk I - Prothonotary

Cambria County’s Prothonotary Office is now accepting applications for a Department Clerk I. The Department Clerk I is responsible for clerical work of routine specialized departmental duties. These tasks require independent judgement and thinking. Performs complex clerical work involving making decisions in accordance with County policies and practices. General directions are received from the Prothonotary and or the First Deputy. Successful candidates must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent and twelve (12) months of experience in clerical work or an equivalent combination of acceptable training and work experience. Employees must possess general computer skills and have knowledge of basic software programs. In addition, to perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The Prothonotary Office works 9am-4pm, 70 hours a week.      Tax Appraiser- Tax Assessment 
Cambria County’s Assessment Office is now accepting applications for a Tax Appraiser. The Tax Appraiser position in the Assessment Office is technical work involving the appraising and assessing of all residential, commercial, and industrial properties as the basis for establishing taxes. Successful Candidates possess in addition to a High School Diploma, an individual must have successfully completed a minimum of five (5) courses, (or possess the equivalent credits) in the field of appraisals, either real estate, broker, residential, or related field. Courses must be a minimum of 30 hours each; OR an individual mist possess a two (2) year Associate Degree in related field; OR an individual must possess a four-year Bachelor’s Degree OR have sufficient background in building construction and components. Appraisal background or certified CPE is preferred. Employees must provide their own transportation as traveling to various properties in the County is a requirement of the position. Also, within three (3) years from the date an individual is hired as a Tax Appraiser, he/she must obtain a Pennsylvania Evaluator Certification (CPE) as required by the state of Pennsylvania. In addition, to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Veterans' Affairs Representative (Full Time) 
The Veterans' Affairs Representative is responsible for assisting veterans and their families in the filing of veterans' claims and benefits. Individual must have the ability to travel on required out-of-town training that usually occur in October of each year. One additional training per year could be required based on State requirements. Preference will be given to Veterans. This is a part-time position that will work approximately 10-20 hours per week. Individual is responsible for providing administrative support and general office related duties, assisting veterans and their families in the filing of veterans' claims and benefits; assisting in the preparation of reports to various government offices and agencies; compiling and maintaining confidential files for veterans who have applied for benefits; and maintaining daily records of contact with veterans, widows, or beneficiaries. Preference will be given to Veterans. Accountants Payable Coordinator (Full Time)

The Accountants payable coordinator in the Controller's Office is specialized and advanced clerical work involving the processing and maintaining of financial records related to Accounts Payable. Individual is responsible for all the aspects of recording financial transactions related to Accounts Payable. Individual must be articulate and able to communicate effectively in a positive manner via the phone, internet, and/or in person with various levels of personnel and the general public. Experience in an Accounts Payable function preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel required.
