It is the mission of the Human Resources Department to provide personnel resources and continuously seek to improve upon the systems that support County employees and administrators with the essential functions necessary to fulfill their employment-related needs and objectives.

Services Provided
  • Administers employment-related directives from the County Board of Commissioners
  • Negotiates and administers all collective bargaining agreements between the County and its employees
  • Monitors and refers individuals to Employee Assistance Program resources
  • Administers all employee payroll and benefits
  • Conducts periodic labor/management meetings
  • Sourcing, screening, interviewing, hiring and disciplining employees of the County
  • Ensures compliance with all legal regulations and standards
  • Provides support for County agencies and departments
  • Facilitates County wide attendance program
  • Develops, implements and evaluates policies, procedures, job descriptions and compensations relating to County positions
  • Manages Civil Service policies and procedures

Maintenance Technician (Prison)

Cambria County Prison, Ebensburg, PA, is seeking individuals to fill an open Maintenance Technician position. Must have knowledge of/experience in the methods and practices related to the building, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and plumbing trades. High school diploma or equivalency is required, however, a certification in at least one trade is preferred. Must have the ability and knowledge to perform general maintenance, custodial, and lawn work.  Must be willing to complete mandatory training related to prison operations and security.  Must be willing to work with, and supervise, inmate work crews. Must be able to pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and pre-employment physical.  Full-Time starting rate of pay is $18.00/hr. Full-Time benefits include eleven paid holidays off, PTO time, Healthcare/Dental/Vision coverage, and retirement. Schedule is Monday through Friday, daylight hours. Overtime is available. Tipstaff / Court Clerk 

This is a full-time position responsible for specialized court-related work in sequestering jurors and attending to their particular needs. Work includes the performance of related clerical tasks in support of court functions. Starting salary: $20,358.00/yr. Network Administrator/Operations Manager 

Cambria County is seeking qualified applicants for this position in the Technology Department. The Network Administrator/Operations Manager’s role is to maintain all County-owned Firewalls, Switches, Access Points, and network devices.  Install all new network devices and switches. This role will assist the CTO with yearly budgeting for the department and also assist in payroll responsibilities and creating purchase orders.  Starting salary 60k. Maintenance Department Positions (2):

Maintenance Worker

Custodian Worker

The Custodian worker is responsible for the custodial care and security of all County buildings and surrounding grounds.  High school diploma or equivalency is required. Must be able to communicate effectively in person and over the phone. Must represent the department in a courteous and professional manner when dealing with the general public, elected officials, department heads and other co-workers. Must have knowledge in the operation, care and general repair of janitorial equipment. Must demonstrate physical strength in performing the custodial and security work. Part-Time Deputy Sheriff

This position consists of various duties pertaining to both Police functions and the duties of the Sheriff’s Office. A Deputy Sheriff is responsible for transporting adult prisoners, juvenile offenders and other persons, within the County as well as out of the County and out of the State. Work is performed under the supervision of the Sheriff.  High School Diploma or equivalent and one year of responsible experience in law enforcement are preferred.  Must be a resident of Cambria County, at least 18 years of age, and a citizen of the US.  Must never have been convicted of a crime involving moral turpitude under the laws of Pennsylvania or any other State.  All applicants must be Act 120, Act 2 or Pennsylvania State Police certified. Applicants must be able to pass a criminal background check. The applicants must be available for shift work and 1,000 hours per year.  If applicant is not certified, the applicant must sign a form agreeing to become Act 120 certified within 1 year from their date of hire.  Starting salary: $15.00/hr. Duman Lake Summer Workers

The Summer Worker is responsible for general maintenance duties, assisting with construction projects, cleaning the parks grounds and buildings, operating commercial mowers, small landscape related equipment and special functions. Must have the capacity to work both independently and in a team environment.  Ability to adapt to the daily challenges associated with a busy work environment and variety of weather conditions.  Capable of lifting equipment, tables and variety of heavy objects and must be able to work flexible hours including overtime and weekends. Full-Time  & Per-Diem Corrections Officer – Prison

Cambria County Prison, Ebensburg, PA, is seeking individuals to fill open Full-Time & Per-Diem Corrections Officer Positions. Individuals must have, or be willing to complete the mandatory training as required by the Pennsylvania regulations governing adult detention facilities. Full-Time starting rate of pay is $20.95/hr. Per-Diem starting rate of pay is $14/hr. Pay increases based upon the union’s employment contract. Full-Time benefits include sick time, holiday pay, shift differential, personal days, vacation days, Healthcare/Dental/Vision coverage, and retirement. Overtime is available. Telecommunicators – Department of Emergency Services

Candidates engage in receiving emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatching personnel and equipment, and providing pre-arrival instructions to callers. Must exercise the ability to think, comprehend, interpret and analyze the root of existing and ever changing situations making appropriate recommendations when receiving emergency or non-emergency calls. IS Specialist

Cambria County Technology Dept. is seeking a self-disciplined and highly motivated individual for the position of IS Specialist to provide entry level support to county employees. Duties will include: Responding to phone calls, emails and tickets. Provide technical support to end-users for hardware and software issues. Hardware setup, deployment and replacement. Full-Time starting salary starts at $28,914.30. Job requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, have reliable transportation and will be needed to travel to all county buildings, mostly located in Ebensburg & Johnstown, PA.
