Services Provided
  • Administers employment-related directives from the County Board of Commissioners

Cambria County is seeking applicants for the position of 9-1-1 Telecommunicator. The 9-1-1 Telecommunicator engages in receiving emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatching personnel and equipment, and providing pre arrival instructions to callers. Telecommunicators must have the ability to multitask, think and perform duties independently, comprehend, interpret, analyze and adjust to ever changing situations. Prison Fiscal Specialist

Cambria County Prison, Ebensburg, PA, is seeking qualified applicants for the Fiscal Specialist position at the Prison.  This position is responsible for preparing annual budgets, completing financial statements, handling day-to-day bookkeeping, completing accounting activities such as managing and reconciling bank and credit card accounts, and managing all activities regarding the procurement of goods. This position ensures all facets of the prison’s accounting practices and purchasing practices are in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and statutes, accreditation standards, County policy and procedure, as well as Institutional Policy and Procedure. High School Diploma or GED required; college preferred. At least one year of experience in fiscal work or an equivalent combination of acceptable training and work experience.  Computer experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and QuickBooks is preferred. Account Clerk I/Steno – Float – Tax Assessment Office 

This position is complex clerical work. Qualifications: High School Diploma and three years of experience as an Account Clerk, with responsible experience in clerical, typing, stenographic or secretarial work, or any combination of education and work experience in the above areas will be considered.  Employees must possess general computer skills and have knowledge in excel and word processing programs. Full-Time & Part-Time Sheriff Deputies

This position consists of various duties pertaining to both Police functions and the duties of the Sheriff’s Office. A Deputy Sheriff is responsible for transporting adult prisoners, juvenile offenders and other persons, within the County as well as out of the County and out of the State. Work is performed under the supervision of the Sheriff.  High School Diploma or equivalent and one year of responsible experience in law enforcement are preferred.  Must be a resident of Cambria County, at least 18 years of age, and a citizen of the US.  Must never have been convicted of a crime involving moral turpitude under the laws of Pennsylvania or any other State.  All applicants must be Act 120, Act 2 or Pennsylvania State Police certified. Applicants must be able to pass a criminal background check. Part Time applicants must be available for shift work and 1,000 hours per year.  If applicant is not certified, the applicant must sign a form agreeing to become Act 120 certified within 1 year from their date of hire. Grant Administrator – District Attorney’s Office

The District Attorney’s Office seeks qualified candidates for a newly created Grant Administrator position to help establish a multi-county law enforcement DNA database based on a federal grant.  Duties to include creation of protocols, tracking of materials and DNA submissions, preparing reports as required under the grant, and other general duties related to the project.  Requires strong interpersonal skills, knowledge of the United States and Pennsylvania Constitutions and applicable laws.  Legal background strongly preferred.  The position is part time, with a maximum of 999 hours a year.  Pay rate of $15.00 per hour.  Applications can be found at this website. Court Reporter

This 35-hour-per-week position has a starting hourly pay rate of $30.52 with additional income earned by transcript/order production.  Duties require the use of a stenotype machine to accurately take down verbatim testimony in a variety of court proceedings.  Qualified applicants must have graduated from an accredited court reporting school.  Two years of stenographic experience is preferred, but not required.  Other duties include, but are not limited to, attending scheduled court proceedings; transcribing, proofreading, and producing transcripts and court orders in a timely manner; as well as handling exhibits and other official documents, and swearing in witnesses. Writer, software, software support, IT support, and all other equipment are provided.  Professional association fees and approved continuing education requirement costs are paid by the County.   Benefits include paid holidays, paid time off, retirement plan, and medical/dental/vision coverage.  The County offers a buyout if medical coverage is not needed. Applications can be found at this website. Tax Appraiser – Tax Assessment Office

This position is technical work involving the appraising and assessing of all residential, commercial, and industrial properties as the basis for establishing assessed value for real estate taxing purposes. Qualifications: High School Diploma with a good discipline in math. Knowledge of building construction and materials would be a plus, however, the candidate will be trained for this position. Traveling to various properties in the county is a requirement of the position. * Within three (3) years from the date an individual is hired as a Tax Appraiser, he/she must obtain a Pennsylvania Evaluator Certification (CPE), as required by the State of Pennsylvania. * The County will pay for the initial CPE testing process. If the employee fails to receive a passing score, the additional costs to re-test are the responsibility of the employee. The cost of State mandated continuing education shall be assumed by the County. Other duties include but are not limited to: Inspects, measures, and verifies all additions to commercial, industrial, and residential real property. Update property record cards as a result of change of ownership due to conveyances, improvements to property and new construction. Computes the value of real property by means of assessment formulas and determines depreciation schedules. Explains contested valuations and provides information to property owners. Assists public in locating property lines and tracing deeds as necessary using available Assessment Office data. Assists with all other office duties (i.e. counter work and answering of the phone, etc.) when scheduled to be in the office. Part-Time Assistant District Attorney

The Assistant District Attorney position is professional legal work assisting and directly reporting to the District Attorney.  All tasks require independent judgment and actions based on County, State and Federal laws. This position deals with all aspects of criminal law, and the employee will attend and conduct preliminary hearings, handle all pre-trial matters (motions, discovery, approval of search warrants, etc.), and present cases in Court (pleas, non-jury and jury trials). Decisions that are made are limited by established policy and are subject to approval by the District Attorney. Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited college, law school, and admission to the Pennsylvania Bar Association and one year of experience in criminal law. Must maintain minimum continuing legal education requirements of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, and remain a licensed attorney in good standing. Information System Specialist – Technology

Duties include: responding to phone calls, emails and tickets. Provide technical support to end-users for hardware and software issues, Hardware setup, deployment and replacement. Starting rate of pay: $15.83 per hour. Job requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, have reliable transportation and will be needed to travel to all county buildings, mostly located in Ebensburg & Johnstown, PA. Law Clerk 

A Law Clerk works directly for the five Cambria County Court of Common Pleas Judges, assisting the Judge primarily by conducting legal research or draft opinions on issues before the Court. The Law Clerk in the Courts must demonstrate the ability to represent the department in a courteous and professional manner when dealing with the general public, elected officials, department heads, and other co-workers. Qualifications: Must be a graduate of an accredited law school and have obtained a Juris Doctor degree. Successful completion of the Pennsylvania Bar Examination is useful, but not required. Licensed to practice Law preferred. A Law Clerk is an employee at will. The employee must be articulate and able to communicate effectively in a positive manner via the phone, internet, and/or in person with various levels of personnel and the general public. Department Clerk I – Cambria County District Attorney’s Office (Full Time – 35 hours per week)
 

The Department Clerk I position in the District Attorney’s Office is responsible clerical work of routine specialized departmental duties. These tasks require independent judgement, actions, and a moderate amount of responsibility. Tasks include, but are not limited to, assisting attorneys, preparing criminal files and various documents for criminal court, answering telephone calls/emails, working closely with court officials and members of the public, assisting in criminal trial preparations, and general filing. The employee must possess general computer skills and have a basic knowledge of general software programs such as Microsoft Office. The employee must also conduct themselves in a professional and courteous manner at all times. Reports directly to the Office Manager under the supervision of the District Attorney. A qualified candidate must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and twelve (12) months of experience in clerical work or an equivalent combination of acceptable training and work experience. Prior experience working in the legal field is preferred, but not required. Title Abstractor – Tax Claim Office

This positions involves specialized and advanced clerical work involving the maintenance and processing of property tax records and free and clear tax sales. Responsible for the complex clerical and supervisory tasks involved in maintaining journals, ledgers and other fiscal records and reviewing voucher and other accounting forms for proper classification. Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent and two years of experience in all phases of real estate title searches and some work in the real estate field with practical knowledge of office procedures, or any equivalent combination of acceptable training and work experience in the above areas will be considered.  Employees must possess general computer skills and have knowledge in excel and word processing programs. Watchman/Custodian/Maintenance Workers

Cambria County is seeking qualified applicants for these positions in the Maintenance Department.  Must have the ability to perform general custodial work; knowledge of methods and practices related to building, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing trades. The Custodian worker is responsible for the custodial care and security of all County buildings and surrounding grounds.  High school diploma or equivalency is required. Must be able to communicate effectively in person and over the phone. Must represent the department in a courteous and professional manner when dealing with the general public, elected officials, department heads and other co-workers. Must have knowledge in the operation, care and general repair of janitorial equipment. Must demonstrate physical strength in performing the custodial and security work. Starting rate of pay is $12.76-$12.97 per hour.
